Youth for Rights 2017
Youth for Rights 2017 is a RightsCon Satellite Event initiated by Access Now, Sinar Project and NetMission.Asia. The program is designed to educate and engage youth in policy and advocacy discussions around digital rights. During this one-day workshop, leaders of the digital rights community will walk participants through policy, advocacy, movement building, and technological debates on issues such as data protection and privacy, network discrimination and connectivity, digital security, diversity and digital inclusion, human rights, trade and business, and more. After the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to volunteer at RightsCon Brussels 2017 and engage in the sessions of their choice.
Goals
- Improve young people’s understanding of internet policies.
- Help to develop practical advocacy skills for youth to engage in digital rights movements.
- Provide a platform for young people to raise and discuss digital rights issues with the key actors in this field.
- Enable the capacity and capability of the younger generation for mapping digital rights issues and solutions in their respective communities.
Eligibility
Individuals between the ages of 18 to 30 interested in learning about internet governance, data privacy, digital security and net discrimination are encouraged to apply.
